He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Mattern and Naomi Mattern. He is survived by: his wife Marian C. Mattern (Kramer); his son Dylan William Mattern; his siblings, Dennis Mattern (late Carol) and Linda McCuean (Donald); his mother-in-law Mary Kramer; and his siblings-in-law, Sarah Frioni (Joe) and John Kramer (Stephanie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nephews.
