He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy P. Mahoney and Mary R. Mahoney (Mayes); his wife Sara Mahoney (Hartley); and his siblings, Paul, James, Robert, John, Thomas, Joseph and Eleanor Petroy.

He is survived by: his children, Donald T. Mahoney (Linda), Daniel Mahoney and Jane Garrison (Walter); and his grandchildren, Jenna, Josh, Kathleen and Neil. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
