He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Mertz and Laura M. Daily Mertz; his wife Joan Grinaway Mertz; and his siblings, Byron, Joseph, Russell, Jack, Ruth Snyder, Cleo Mertz, Lucille Dimmick, Rachel Raker and Margery Stametz.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas N. Mertz, Jr. of Danville, PA and Tammy L. (Ken); his grandchildren, Bret Thomas Berg (Sarah) and Dr. Alexandra Berg of Danville, PA.; his siblings, Kenny Mertz (Joanne) of Shamokin, PA, Fran Weaver of Shamokin, PA and Lois Walburn of California; his girlfriend Christine DeLong of Danville, PA; his partner's child Brook Hughes (Greg); and also, Carter, Ryder, Harper of Smyrna, DE, Dustan DeLong (Sara), Aiden, Morgan and Kirra of Sumter, SC.. He is also survived by Numerous nieces and nephews.
