He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian Hummer Hiller; his parents, Willard A. Hiller and Dorothy Cramer Hiller; and his siblings, Willard A. Hiller Jr. and Marion Martin.

He is survived by: his sons, John R. PhD and David A. (Donna) of Lake Sheridan; and his grandchildren, Wendi Griffiths (Emerson) and Matthew Hiller (Kailey Jenkins).
