He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Carl (Schwalm); his children, Robyn Anderson (Nickalous) of Dalmatia and Edward Carl, Jr. (Marah Welker) of Klingerstown; his grandchildren, Maddison, Jordyn, Lila, Toby, Jasmine and Garrett; his great grandchild Kinsley; and his siblings, Joanne Minnich, Harold Carl, Jr. of Dornsife, Allen Carl (Gina), Charles Carl of Harrisburg, Valerie Moyer (Paul) of Pottsville and Trudy Bingaman (Mark) of Sunbury. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
