He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thurstin and Enna Loiuse Thurstin (Miles); his daughter Marcia Thurstin; and his siblings, Marjorie Munchak, Karen Shaw and Leeland Shaw Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Randall Thurstin (Cheri) of Curwensville, Michelle Chalker (Scott) of Binghamton, NY and Joseph "Joe" Thurstin Wellsboro (Darby); and his siblings, Sherri Gill Olanta (William) and Darryl Shaw of LeBanon, PA..
