He is survived by: his wife Shirley Irwin (Bensor); his children, Cynthia Hoyle (Irwin), Fred, David and Brian Irwin; and his siblings, Ralph Irwin and Esther Lippert. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.
