He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Umstead and Gertrude Umstead; his daughter Francine Flowers; and his siblings, Alfred, Archie, Harry Jr., Harold (Bud), Beatrice Mildred, Pluma and Isabelle.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Umstead; his brother Ralph (Toot); his sisters-in-law, Dawnice Umstead and Genevieve Umstead; his son-in-law John Flowers; his grandchildren, Tyler, David and Devon; and his great grandchildren, Cameron and Ava.
