He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Ries and Louisa Ries; his wife Ada; his son David; his grandson Nicholas; and his siblings, Frederick, Donald, Beatrice Hicks, Elizabeth Jeffreys and Hilda VonMoose.
He is survived by: his children, Gordon, Jr. (Janet) and Christine Marcum (Lacy); his grandchildren, Franklin Holdren (Carrie), Ryan Holdren (Tracie), Dustin Holdren and Ashley Wilson (Bradley); and his stepgrandchildren, David Marcum (Paula) and Stacy Luke (Ryan). He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
