He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Smith and Margaret Smith; and his brother Bart Smith. He is survived by: his wife Frances Smith; his children, John J. Smith Jr. (Nadja Petrov) of Woodstock, NY, Christopher Barry-Smith (Lori) of Arlington, MA and Julia Castagnero of Zelienople, PA.; his grandchildren, Annie, Erin and Kiley; and his brothers, Thomas, Robert and Joseph Smith. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
