He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Smith and Florence Smith; his brother T. Richard Smith; and his sister-in-law Michelle Colosimo. He is survived by: his wife Bernadette M. Smith (Colosimo); his sisters-in-law, Francine Flaherty (Dan), Claudette Grine (David) and Francis Colosimo (Wendy); and his cousin Cory Conan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He still pursued his love of golf even after his physical ability to play was effect by Parkinson's disease dementias with Lewy bodies by watching the golf channel.
