Thompson (Gill); his spouse Laverna Thompson (Hurler); his children, Arnold Betts (Sally) of Cherry Flats, PA, Dale Betts (Julie) of Mansfield, PA, Merle G. Thompson, Jr (Jennifer), Travis L. Thompson of Mansfield, PA, Kitty L. Kenyon (Brad) of Troy, PA and Amanda L. Roe (Harold, Jr) of Mansfield, PA; and his siblings, Jack Thompson of Mansfield, PA, Johney Thompson of Wellsboro, PA, George Thompson of Blossburg, PA, Anna May Garland, Elizabeth Smith of Hornell, NY, Francis Thompson, Vera Mae and Debbie Smith. He was also cherished by twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
