He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard James and Ruth Akam Hammond; his daughter Mary Beth Hammond; and his siblings, Peggy Bryant, Mary Lou Sammons and James Hamond II.
He is survived by: his daughters, Laurie Cox (Jeff) of Corry, Ellen Gerzina (Michael) of Cupleper, Julie Costales of Bosque Farms, N. M. and Andrea Higgins (Kiel) of Albuquerque, N. M; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Leonard (Nick), Emily Gerzina, Rachel and Jacob Gordon; and his great grandchild Marilynn Leonard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
