Robert C. Joy Obituary

Robert C. Joy, 94, of Rt. 6, Corry, Pa., died Friday, January 14, 2022 at Corry Memorial Hospital, Corry, Pa.

Bob was born August 19, 1927, in Corry, Pa., to the late Charles and Margaret Mason Joy.

He was raised and educated in Corry, and attended the Corry area schools. In 1944, Bob enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a Sea Bee and served in the South Pacific. After the war ended, Bob was honorably discharged and returned to Corry. In his early years Bob was a breeder for ABS and had a milk route. He also worked for a short time with Associated Springs and for Endicott Johnson. He later worked with his father in law, Carl Millspaw, as a contractor with Millspaw- Joy Contracting and later Robert C. Joy Contracting. He had also been a locksmith for many years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Bob was also on the advisory board for the Salvation Army, board of the Corry Federal Credit Union, where he served as vice president. He was very active with the Corry Memorial Hospital for 40 years and was actively involved in building the new hospital. Corry School Board, and former president and director, Free and Accepted Masons, 32nd degree. Shriners, Moose Club (lifetime member), American Legion and the Corry Sea Bee club.

Bob was a member of the Corry Lodge No. 365 Free, and Accepted Masons for 67 ½ years (1954 – Present) and was past Master in 1971, Royal Arch Masons, Columbus Occidental Chapter, Corry, PA., and was past High Priest, and the Royal Arch Masons, Columbus Occidental Chapter No. 235 (to present). He was also a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, St. Johns Conclave, Erie, Pa., Knight of the York Cross of Honor-past Sovern, the Occident Council #41, Titusville, Pa., past thrice Illustrious Master, Knights Templar, Clarence Commandery No. 51, Corry, Pa., past Commander, Knights Templar, Warren Commandery No. 63, Warren, PA (to present). Bob was also a member of Zem Zem Shriner, Erie, Pa., and Corry/Union City Shrine Club, Corry, Pa.

Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting with his family, and raising beef.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Millspaw Joy, a sister, Barb Foersch; brothers, Richard and Wallace Joy; granddaughter, Julia Kriner and great- grandchild, Leia Joy.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia Maker Joy, whom he married in West Spring Creek, Pa., on September 15, 1989; two sons, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Joy and wife, Rev. Dr. Juliann Joy of Columbiana, OH, Rande Joy and wife Christine of Corry, Pa., a step-daughter, Cynthia Thompson of Corry, Pa., two step sons, Dean Kriner, Jr, of Wyomissing, Pa., Dana Kriner and wife Erica of Dauberville, Pa., exchange student and adopted son Aderball Lima of Brazil; a step-sister, Hellen Allen and husband Lloyd, of Springboro, Pa.; one brother, Kenneth Joy, of Cuba, NY.; a sister-in-law, Sue Millspaw Kafferlin, of Union City, Pa.

Bob is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call the First United Methodist Church, 650 Worth St, Corry, PA 16407 on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10 am until time of memorial service at 12 noon. Rev. Duk Hee Han and Rev. Dr. Robert C. Joy will be officiate. Military Honors and Masonic services will also be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505 Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa.

Family and friends may call at the church for visitation on Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon.
