He was predeceased by: his parent Howard James; his wife Hildreth R. "Hildie" Jones; and his sisters, Peggy Bryant and Mary Lou Sammons. He is survived by: his parent Ruth Akam Hammond; his children, Abbie Peterson, Anita Baker (Daniel) of Corry, Alice Wiley (Gary) of Mercer and Howard J. Hammond III (Karen) of Corry; and his brother Robert Hammond of Corry. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
