She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Charles Dakin and Lois Dakin; her sons, John Jr., Fred and Steve; her daughters-in-law, Amsale and Mae; her grandchildren, Mike, Paul, Philip, Melanie, Maria and Maya; her great grandchildren, Maris and Jace; and her former husband John Pattison, Sr.. She was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
In 2013 Mary moved back to Pittsburgh to live out her final years under the doting care of her children as she slipped peacefully into Alzheimer's. Mary eldest son John Jr. preceded her in death in 2009.
