He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph E. Battles and Sarah Battles (Exley); his great grandchild Owen B. Peters; and his brother Ivan Battles. He is survived by: his wife Carol A. Battles (Jamison); his daughters, Kristi L. Sherman (James) of Harmonsburg and Kelli L. Peters (John) of Conneaut Lake; his grandchildren, Jason Peters (Amber) of Linesville, Zachary Sherman (Abbie) of Harmonsburg, Julia Peters (Dillon Wheeler) of Linesville and Brandon Sherman (Amanda Sharpless) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; his great grandchild Cecilia R. Sherman; and his brothers, Roy Battles (Pat) of Greenville and Don Battles (Pat) of Goshen, Indiana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
