He was predeceased by: his parents, Vasil Margetan and Annastasia Margetan; his wife Helen (Yackulich); his son Thomas; his siblings, Mary Kozak, Nancy Gelles, Peter, Frank, Paul, George and William Margetan; and his children, Joyce Zuravnsky (Leonard), Janet Buchan (Richard), David (Kathy Havener) and Robert (Michelle Reighard).

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Matthew Buchan, Alan Buchan (Ashley Reynolds), Derek Margetan (Jessica Brumbaugh), Robert, Scott Margetan, Erin June (Jason), Joseph Zuravnsky and Leslie Tyger; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Garrett Buchan and Ethan Margetan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Michael's name be made to East Taylor Volunteer Fire Company.
