He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Smoter and Agnes Smoter (Hajduk); his wife Ida Ruth Smoter (Williams); his siblings, Stella Hajek, Gladys Cartwright, Frank, Sigmond and Steven; and his great grandchild Joshua.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Dubovi (Joe), Douglas (Margo), Craig (Leslie), East Taylor, Paula Seymour (John) and Ebensburg; his grandchildren, Joe, Elizabeth (Anthony), Emily, John (Leah), Nathan (Sarah Beth), Theresa (Brandon), Sara, Megan, Zach, Carly, Kelsey, Kendall and Will; his great grandchildren, James, John Patrick, Jude, Joseph, Joel, Jinger and Leyna; and his sister Cecilia Kearns of East Conemaugh. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
