He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Mitzel and Dora Wise Mitzel; his sister Rita D'Ottavio; his brother-in-law John D'Ottavio; and his nephew Larry Leiphart, Jr..
He is survived by: his sisters, Jane Leiphart (John Mastromatteo) of Lancaster and Deanna; and his spouse Gerald Sweitzer of Red Lion. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews.
