He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas H. McCarty and Elizabeth Smith McCarty; and his siblings, Tom McCarty, Mary Elizabeth Wagner, Margaret Ann Kauffman, Patricia Horn and Micki Stettler.

He is survived by: his close friend Sandra Gardels of Dover, DE. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
