He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lloyd and Margaret Shellenberger (McElhatten); his wife Ruby I. Yoder; his sisters, Marilyn Miller and Hannah Bovard; and his half-siblings, Edward King (Jim), Austin Shellenberger, Maitland Shellenberger and Ellen Russell.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph E. Shellenberger, Jr. (Christine) of Mobile, Austin Lloyd Shellenberger (Bernardita) of Cochranton, Tonja Lee Stoll (Walter Sposkoski) of Townville and Terry Jean Kope of Sandy Lake; his sisters, Roselyn Hamilton of Flower Mound, TX and Clara Mitcham (Don); and his grandchildren, Tamara Stoll, Brett Stoll, Katie Lane, Rose Lane, Joseph E. Shellenberger, III, Joanna Robinson, Zembria Dilley, Shakira (Lynn Scott), David Simpson, Jr., Travis Griffen, Brian J. Kope and Lakken Kope. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
