He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis O. Coates, Sr. and Alice Dabbak Coates; his son Michael J. Coates; and his sister Alice McWilliams. He is survived by: his wife Nancy L. Moore Coates; his children, Robert Coates (Laura) of Seaford, DE, Angela Boyd (Brian, Sr.) of Upland, PA, Bert Mize (Brenda) of Coatesville and Rodney Mize (Shawn) of Coatesville; and his siblings, David Coates of Miami, FL, Joyce Miller of Calif, Joan Hilton of Cochranville, Janet DeSalvitore of Newark, DE and Jean Hensel of Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Downingtown VFW, 4601 Lincoln Hwy, Downingtown, PA 19335.
