He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross B. Hess and Marie Dailey Hess; his wife Pauline; his son Joseph Jr.; and his siblings, Albert Hess, John Hess, Agnes Franciscus, Margaret Fuller, Marie Neff and Elizabeth March.
He is survived by: his daughter Andrea O'Leary (David); and his grandchildren, Rachel O'Leary of West Caln, Erin O'Leary of West Caln, Julie Hess of Pittsburgh and Michael Hess of Chester Springs.
