He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse G. Artis and Lalia J. Ward Artis; and his siblings, Nina Artis-Brown, Rosalee Peterkin, Jesse Artis II, Gene Artis, Joseph Artis and Poindexter Artis.
He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Culclasure; his children, Carmen Gibson, Douglas and Brian Artis; his siblings, Leslie Artis (Emma), Ronald Artis, Chester Artis and Saundra Howard (John); and his close friends, Maurice, Wendell Delcounsey, Sydney Young and LeRoy Lyons.
