He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander F. McCarter and Ruth L. Markle McCarter; and his brother James McCarter. He is survived by: his children, Ruth Ellen Anderson (Doug) of West Caln, Roxanne McCarter of Lincoln University, Richard McCarter, Jr. of Gum Tree and Robin Leigh Whiteman (Charles) of Honey Brook; his former wife Lola Smith of Coatesville; his grandchildren, Geoffrey H. Bates, Jr., Elizabeth Bates, Robert A. Anderson, Richard H. Anderson, Jessica L. Estes and Laura Fredd-Maxwell; his great grandchildren, Tristen G. Bates, Tessa Bates, Nathan, Sarah, James, Leah Anderson, Lindsay Anderson, Jenna, Landon Willmott, Bryce Estes, Teddy and Sheridan Maxwell; and his sister Donna F. Anderson of Honey Brook.
