He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl "Beanie" and Nellie Hullihen; his siblings, Carol Jean Manion and Thomas Ray Hullihen; and his son William E. Maines Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Daniel "Marty" Hullihen of Cody, WY, Michael Hullihen (Nicole) of Clearfield, Matt Hullihen (Vicki) of DuBois, Sam Scribe (Angel) of Grampian, Carol Maines (Darren Hoover) of Curwensville, Gail Glenn (Jeff) of Florida, Mark Maines (Alice Petracca) of Clearfield and Todd Maines (Judy) of New Bethlehem; and his siblings, Edward Hullihen (Doretta), James Hullihen (Sharon), Sallie Dasher (David) and Susan Nicholson (Charles). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family asks that donations be made to Penn Highlands Hospice.
