He was predeceased by: his parents, Scott Shaner and Ethel Shaner; his wife Edith Mae Riggins; his daughter Barbara Jean Shaner; his son-in-law Edward Hemelrick; and his grandson Robert Hemelrick.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald Lee Shaner Jr., Sandra Hemelrick and Scott Shaner (Patricia); and his brothers, Ted Shaner, Stanley Shaner and Elmer Shaner. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
