He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Lidy Smarkusky; his parents, Joseph Smarkusky and Anna Komichak Smarkusky; and his siblings, John Smarkusky, Mary Rolsing and Pauline Begin.
He is survived by: his children, Eric Smarkusky (Cathy) and Debra Smarkusky (Sharon Ann Toman); and his brother William Smarkusky. He is also survived by two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
