He was predeceased by: his daughter Susan Christian; and his parents, Henry Davey and Catherine Davey (O'Malley). He is survived by: his sons, James H. Davey Jr. (Lou Ann Davey) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Paul Davey of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Peter Davey of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Matthew Davey (Andrea Davey) of Chevy Chase, Maryland and John Davey (Katherine Warren); his grandchildren, Adam Christian of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Caitlin Christian of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Tyler Davey of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Maura Christian of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Emma Davey of Malvern, Pennsylvania, William and Caroline Davey; and his brother Robert Davey (Mary Ellen).
