She was predeceased by: her father Harold Sloan; and her siblings, Debbie Dean and Sam Sloan. She is survived by: her mother Bernice Preston Sloan; her husband James V. Wilshire; her son Francis "Bud" (Melanie Golier Wilshire); her grandchildren, Maya, Jonas and Margot Wilshire; her siblings, Sheryll Bruder (Perry), Mary Lou Northrop (Duane), Cassie Vildusea (James) and Eric Sloan; and her siblings-in-law, John Dean and Becka Sloan.
Karen conducted Alzheimer's support and education classes and taught continuing education at Clarion University in: Alzheimer's and Ethics in Long Term Care.
