He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert and Frances; his son John Patrick; and his siblings, Richard, Howard, Donald and Ruth.

He is survived by: his children, Joseph (Sylvett) of Penn Hills, Robert (Margaret) of Virginia Beach, Michael (Gwen) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Elizabeth Tkach (Scott) of Castle Shannon and Kathryn of Forest Hills; his grandchildren, John, Meghan and Timothy; and also, Chance and Benjamin.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
