Stephen D. Smitchko Obituary
Stephen D. "Squeaky" Smitchko, Jr. of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on July 21, 1951, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Stephen D. and Pauline F. (Brnik) Smitchko, Sr. On September 17, 1988, in Snow Shoe, he married Joyce L. Twoey, who survives at home.
Stephen was a life member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence. He was a 1969 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. Stephen was a press operator at the JH France Refractories, retiring in 2018 after 49 years of service.
Stephen was an RV enthusiast. He knew all types of RVs, their size, and features. He enjoyed camping, especially at the Centre County Grange Fair. He and Joyce would take their camper on weekend trips, and they made a lot of friends at the campgrounds. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to amusement parks with them.
Stephen enjoyed watching football and liked to attend BEA football games. He was a member of the Clarence Moose and the Young Democratic Club in Clarence. Above all, Stephen loved to socialize. He could talk to anyone about any subject.
Stephen is survived by his wife; daughter, Jodie L. Reams and her husband, Chad, of York and three grandchildren: Mackenzie, Kylie, and Logan. He is also survived by two brothers: Douglas M. Smitchko and his wife, Melody, of Clarence and Daniel J. Smitchko and his wife, Kimberly, of Boise, ID. and two sisters: Sandra K. Murnyack and her husband, Mick, of Clarence and Cheryl A. Keller and her husband, Thomas, of Lamar, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca C. Kochik.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11am, at the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence, with Father Michael Wolfe Officiating. Burial will be private at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
