He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy L. Shubrooks Axe; his parents, William B. Axe and Dorothy E. Wright Axe; and his brothers, Robert and Herbert Axe.

He is survived by: his children, William H. (Lisa J. Buell), Ronald J. (Carlita Axe) of Ephrata and Jean Ann Reese of Christiana; and his sisters, Nancy Lorenton of Lancaster and Bette Ann "Toot" Axe of Lancaster. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
