He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Johnson Hughes; his parents, Robert Hughes and Doris Hughes; his daughter Marie; his brother Tony; and his half-sister Doris.
He is survived by: his children, Irving (Kimberly Barrage Hughes) of Fredericksburg, PA, Tony (Kelly Hunter Hughes) of State College, Richard (Terri Johnson Hughes) of Allentown, Robert (Jen Paulson Hughes) of Christiana and Brenda Hughes of York; and his siblings, Robert, Emily, Mary, Earnesteen "Tina", Rita and Wanda. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.
