He was predeceased by: his parents, Antone Soltner and Agnes Soltner; his brothers, Jack, William and Thomas Soltner; and his wife Marie Soltner (Walsh).

He is survived by: his children, Jeanne Marie Blystone (William), Joanne Smith (Keith), Gene Soltner, Jr., Donna O'Shea (Brian) and Jacqueline Mathews; and his nephew Eddy McLaughlin. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
