He was predeceased by: his father Walker W. Carter; and his brothers, Nathaniel W. Carter and Walker L. Carter. He is survived by: his mother Susie Anna Carter of Chester; his children, David Walker (Jackie) of Chester, PA, Charles L. Jackson, Joshua Carter, Elkton, MD, Shanna Alexander, Jasmine "Jazz" Carter, Gia Carter and Shakyre Willis of Chester, PA.; his siblings, Osceola E. "Ocie" Williams (Donna), Robert L. "Bob" Williams (Marie), Samuel A. Carter, Stephen P. Carter (Robin) and Darryl A. Carter; his sister-in-law Claudette Carter; his aunts, Evelyn Dixon (Edna Mae Gibson) of Brookhaven, PA and Sandford; his uncle Verle Carter (Sylvia); and his cousin Walter "Walt" Dixon (Joni). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Due to COVID David could no longer pioneer he used the telephone and wrote letters to spread the word.
