He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Hughes and Mary Gue Hughes; and his brothers, John, Thomas and Robert Hughes.
He is survived by: his children, James Hughes (Marna) of Carroll Township, David Hughes (Janet) of Clarkston, Mich., Susan Betler (Jeffry) of Fallowfield Township and Colleen Povich (Nick) of Monessen; his grandchildren, Jason Hughes, Katherine Bonatesta (Zachary), Emily Cappelli (Joe) and Michael Betler (Clare); his stepgrandson Japheth Tirpak (Amber); his great grandchildren, Ariana, Geno Cappelli, Layla Bonatesta and Stevie Betler; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Lily and Cadyn Tirpak.
Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required inside the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard's name to the Disabled American Veterans Charity or the Wounded Warrior Project.
