He was predeceased by: his parent James Buckholt; his brother James R. Buckholt; and his sister-in-law Carole Riva. He is survived by: his parent Pauline Buckholt (Verkleeren); his wife Gertrude A. "Trudy" Buckholt (Erbe); his daughters, Cynthia L. Thurman and Christine A. Merashoff; his grandchildren, Bryan Charles Cholak, Benjanin J. Cholak, Kaitlyn Merashoff (Eddie) and Jason Merashoff; his great grandchildren, Charlie Cholak, James Cholak and Daxton Cholak; his siblings, Paul A. Buckholt and Jean Buckholt King of North Carolina; and his sister-in-law Liesel Reconnu of Brownsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
