He was predeceased by: his wife Martha "Marion" Wimer Stuart; his son James Stuart Jr.; his siblings, John R. Stuart II, Terry Stuart Sr. and Sarah Fox; and his granddaughter Angella Stuart (Daniel).
He is survived by: his daughters, Sue Stuart of Warren, Mattie Knight (Matt Munn) of Sugar Grove and Samantha Stuart (Will Vibbert) of Russell; his stepchildren, Edys Neall (Wally) of Russell, Holly Lee (Robert) of Richmond, VA, Michelle Wilson (Tom Chittester) of Warren and Richard Wilson (Patty Malone) of Warren; his grandchildren, Kenny Stuart (Nikki), Haleigh Stuart, Sophia Stuart and Amari Stuart; and his great grandchildren, Renia Marie and Isabelle Sue. He is also survived by many step-grandchildren and step- great grandchildren.
