He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob H. Bitner and Sarah E. Carmack Bitner; his wife Mary V. Logue Bitner; his grandson Joshua Chmelovsky; his great grandchild Danon Defenderfer; and his siblings, Richard L. Bitner, Joanne Bowman and Betsy Marcavitch.
He is survived by: his daughters, Saundra K. Defenderfer of Chambersburg, PA, Karen S. Chmelovsky (Peter Dolan) of Sparks, NV and Carla J. Hill of Lucedale, MS; his grandchildren, Adam Defenderfer (Heather), Brandon Chmelovsky (Virginia), Jordan Chmelovsky, Justin Howarth (Crystal), Cody McCoy (Jerica) and Ricky Howarth, Jr. (Carenda); and his sisters, Phyllis Brehm of Chambersburg and Susanna Farner of Chambersburg. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
