She was predeceased by: her father Clayton Staten; her husband John Smith; and her children, Jerry Stroy, Alvin Smith, Melvin Smith and Sarah Sanders.
She is survived by: her mother Thelma Harris; and her daughters, Ethel J. Smith (Wayne), Gloria A. Martin-Smith (Ronald), Thelma L. Smith and Tina A. Boone (Shedrick). She is also survived by twenty eight grandchildren.
