He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Whitfield and Roberta Williams Whitfield; and his siblings, Sidney, Gary, Robert Whitfield, Shirley Flook and Harriet McCleaf.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce A. Shatzer Whitfield; his children, Jodie Brown (Dwight Burkett), Brian Whitfield (Sue) and Shawn Whitfield (Marcia); his grandchildren, Darren Brown (Ashley), Danielle Fitz (Micah), Cody Whitfield (Laken), Madison, Bryce, Emily and Cade Whitfield; and his sisters, Darlene Fordyce, Sharlye Goshen, Donna Burns, Carol Shetter and Patty Keith. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
