He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Kathleen Smith (Todt); and his wife Janet F. Smith (Diehl). He is survived by: his daughter Debra Carter of Chambersburg; his grandchildren, Melinda Hurst (Casey) of Chambersburg, John Carter of Chambersburg, PA and Andrew Carter (Amber) of Chambersburg; his great grandchildren, Ella Hurst, Maya Hurst, Carter Hurst, Brooks Carter and Jameson Carter; and his siblings, Joan Kaiser, Gerald Smith (Anna), Robert Smith (Joyce) and Donald Smith (Doreen).
Visitation was held on Monday, September 23rd 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 24th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, September 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM and at 11:00 PM at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church (320 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, or to Mercy House, 730 Norland Ave, Chambersburg.
