He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Bates and Marguerite Bates. He is survived by: his children, Carolyn (Jeffrey), Bernadette (Edwin) and Louis Bates; his grandchildren, J. P., Brad and Emily Grove; and his children, Jackson, Kerri, Kasey Piper and Cecelia Bates.
