David Combs Tindall Obituary
It is with deep sorrow, profound hope in Christ and much love that the family of David Combs Tindall announces his passing on November 14, 2021. Most recently of Buckingham, PA, he was originally from Fieldsboro, NJ. He was 85.
Son of the late Chester and Mildred Tindall, Dave will be sorely missed by his wife of 63 years, Anne Reichard Tindall; his sons and their wives, Jeff and Silvia, Scott and Denise and Mark and Barb; his grandchildren, Olivia and Isabella, Drew, Mikaela and Megan, and Jon, Jesse, and Jared. He leaves a legacy of investing joyfully in his family and was known for his warm smiles and big hugs. He was good at welcoming new spouses like Karin, Chris, Josh, and Vanessa into the family. He delighted to see a new generation being born. Great-grandchildren, Adaline, Samantha, Silas and Jovie will grow up hearing stories and basking in the warmth of the family created by Gran and Gramps.
Dave was a close and lifelong friend of his younger brother, Paul (Donna). But he was also part of a tight and enduring circle of cousins and friends from his youth in New Jersey. Many colleagues from his long career in the USDA's Soil Conservation Service were treasured friends as well. As were dozens of fellow church members.
Dave's strong faith in the Lord led him to live a happy, abundant and generous life. He was a good man; a humble man. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1967 working to support his family and earn his degree at the same time. He helped to start and run the Food Pantry at New Britain Baptist Church. He taught classes and served as a leader at several churches throughout his life, most recently Pleasantville UCC. For years, he and Anne delivered food for Meals on Wheels. And even as this list expands, those closest to him know that his real work was thousands of small kindnesses and expressions of open-handed service to the people in his life.
Dave was a colorful, funny and slow-paced storyteller who made every gathering better with his tales. He was a wise counselor, with an irenic spirit and worldview. He loved books, camping, Vermont, gardening, learning new things, playing cards and board games, family gatherings on the back porch and, most of all, time with his wife. Together they wove a beautiful tapestry of love, generosity, and family.
Services will take place on December 4, 2021 at Pleasantville United Church of Christ, 3424 Limekiln Pike (Rt.152), Chalfont, PA 18914. Family visitation will take place between 10 and 11am. Celebration of Life Service will be at 11am. Masks required.
