Terry Never wrote a sympathy message

“Stacy got me my first sports writing job in the summer of 1969. He was dating one of the Goodwin sisters from Fairless Hills. I happened to have a date with younger sister Lorraine Goodwin. Stacy asked me what I was doing. Told him I was attending Penn State-Ogontz after getting home from Vietnam a year earlier. He asked if I needed a job and I jumped at the chance. Later on, when I worked for the student paper at Penn State, Stacy checked in on a football weekend. I was too stubborn to have him mentor me but Stacy was always a man I respected. We stayed in touch through 1980 and in 2012 he helped me get some publicity for a book I wrote about the Vietnam War. Stacy did a lot of little favors for people like me, and I doubt I ever repaid him, nor would he have accepted any gift except the words “thank you.” He was a better man than most of us, honest and dedicated to his craft, and to the people he loved. Thank you, Stacy. You are missed. — Terry Nau”
