He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter and Jean Byers Pillar; his son James Walter Pillar; and his brother David Pillar. He is survived by: his wife Thelma Mary Thompson; his children, Sheryl Shamp (Butch), Linda Lyden (Jeff) and Lee Pillar; his grandchildren, Ben Mortimer (Amanda), Jake Mortimer (Ashley), Susanna Clermont (Marc), Melissa Albanes (Gabe), Zack Shamp, Devin Pillar, Landin Pillar and Logan Pillar; his great grandchildren, Phoenix, Isla, Lincoln, Karai Mortimer, Ezra, Zephryn, Aurelia Mortimer, Cosette, Josephine, Andre Clermont, GJ and Theia Albanes; and his siblings, Harold Pillar and Ethel Hutczko.
