He was predeceased by: his son Donald R. Boss, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Boss (Nolle); his children, Mary Ann Engel (Tommy Miller), Daniel Boss (Sharon), Thomas Boss (Michelle), Suzann Greaff (William) and Ronald Boss, Sr.; and his siblings, Laverne Frye, Thelma Creehan, Jack Boss (Barbara) and Lois Creehan. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
