He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sheila Rae Ragland (Powell); his children, James Ragland, Jr., Lamar Ragland, Charles "Charlie" Ragland (Elaine) and Cory; his stepchildren, Brandi Anderson and Chadwyck Lee Anderson; and his siblings, Eric Dowdell and Marlene "Bunny" Bynam. He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren. 6 step-grandchildren. 2 greatgrandchildren. 1 step-greatgrandchild.

Due to the pandemic, there will not be any visitation, and a Memorial service will be held at a later date.
